Lewisham town centre is now mostly flats. The Loampit Vale, Molesworth Street and Lewisham Gateway schemes have added thousands of apartments in tall blocks over the last fifteen years, sitting alongside 1960s and 70s council blocks along the high street. Step a few streets out and the pattern reverts to Victorian and Edwardian terraces, very often split into a ground-floor flat with the garden and an upper maisonette with its own stair, plus a thinner layer of larger three-storey houses on the roads climbing towards Blackheath and Brockley.
Two things shape the day. The town-centre zones run long hours and unusually include Sunday: B1 (Lewisham Central) is controlled Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm and B2 adds Sunday morning 9am to 1.30pm, which catches out anyone assuming free weekend parking in SE13. And SE13 is on hard Thames Water supply, so bathroom scale, cloudy shower screens and furred kettles are the standard sticking points on a landlord's check-out inventory.

A one-bedroom flat is £207 for a full end of tenancy clean. Carpets and ovens are priced separately, because not everyone needs them.

Ovens. Single £77, double £110, range cooker £114, two-oven AGA £143. Hobs from £23, extractors £28.
Regular housework. £22 per cleaner per hour weekly, £24 fortnightly. Same cleaner kept on your house.
One-off deep cleans. A team job: from £186 (two cleaners, three hours, plus £30 for kit and materials). Minimum charge on one-off work is £67.
