Six places sit around the two home postcodes and every one of them reads off a single list. A bedroom carpet is £36 in every one, and mileage has never appeared as a line on an invoice. The shape of the round: north west along the A2 to New Cross, north to Deptford and the river, north east into Greenwich, east over the railway to Blackheath, west up the hill to Brockley, then ten minutes south to Ladywell.
What people ring about, area by area
| Area | Postcode | Usual bookings |
|---|---|---|
| New Cross | SE14 | Student house check-outs, landlord ovens, September |
| Deptford | SE8 | Move-outs, ovens, market-day timing |
| Greenwich | SE10 | Short-let turnarounds, weekly housework, weekday mornings |
| Blackheath | SE3 | Family housework, stair flights, hall carpets off the heath |
| Brockley | SE4 | Villa flats, rugs on bare boards, through lounges |
| Ladywell | SE13 | Early and late slots, weekly work, ground floor damp |
How far Lewisham stretches on this site
SE13 and SE8 make up the middle, both inside the London Borough of Lewisham, with SE14 and SE4 to the west, SE3 east and SE10 over the boundary in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. That is the round, and saying so is deliberate, because plenty of cleaning websites shade in half of south east London and then take three days to appear. Catford, Hither Green, Lee and Sydenham all get worked when a job comes up and not one of them has a page here. A firm sitting in Catford will serve those streets better than anybody working out of the town centre.
A parking rule that includes Sunday
Town centre zones here run long hours and one of them runs on a Sunday, which is unusual enough to catch people. B1, Lewisham Central, is controlled Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm. B2 adds Sunday morning, 9am to 1.30pm. Free weekend parking in SE13 is an assumption that has cost us tickets. Outside those two zones we read the plate on your road rather than quote hours we cannot vouch for, and any charge lands on the bill at cost. Greenwich is the other one to watch, since SE10 permits and visitor vouchers belong to the Royal Borough rather than to Lewisham Council, so a Lewisham permit buys you nothing there.
The high street is a bus corridor
Over thirty routes pass through Lewisham, which makes it one of the biggest bus interchanges in south London, and a daily street market runs alongside them by the shopping centre. Between the morning and evening peaks there is nowhere realistic to stop a working vehicle near it. Vans therefore work from the residential turnings and the kit gets carried, which is fine for a mop and less fine for an extraction hose, so tell us your nearest side street if you are on that stretch. Cleaners travelling without a van have it easier. Lewisham is the DLR terminus for Canary Wharf, Bank and Stratford, with Southeastern services to Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Victoria and Dartford, plus Elverson Road, St Johns, Ladywell and Blackheath all within walking distance.
One water supply, every postcode
Thames Water runs hard right across this patch. Kettles fur. Screens cloud from the tray upwards. Tap bases crust within weeks of being polished, and rainfall heads in the newer blocks fur up internally, out of sight, until the spray pattern goes odd. Getting it off is a matter of acid descaler and waiting rather than scrubbing, and the waiting is costed into every quote from the first call. It has never been an invoice line and it never will be.
Your street is not on any of these pages
Six pages sketch a round; they do not fence one. Read your road out on 020 8077 4931 and you have the answer before hanging up, which beats finding out on the Thursday. Two things are worth mentioning on the same call. Where a neighbour wants work doing the same morning, one stop beats two for everybody and the £67 one off floor is met once between the pair of you. Mention a concierge, a bookable service lift, or two front doors with no hallway between them, since those lengthen the slot without touching the price. The prices page holds the numbers and the services page takes the jobs in turn.
Questions we get asked
Do the outer areas cost more than Lewisham itself?
No. Neither mileage nor a call out gets billed, so a bedroom carpet is £36 up in Blackheath and £36 beside the shopping centre. All a different parking zone alters is when the van may stand still.
My road is not listed. Will you still come?
Very probably. What these pages mark is where the van already works, not where it turns round, and jobs come in weekly from Catford, Hither Green, Lee and Sydenham. Read your road out on the phone for a straight answer.
Is parking really controlled on a Sunday?
In part of SE13 it is. B1, Lewisham Central, runs Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm and B2 adds Sunday morning, 9am to 1.30pm. We work out which zone covers your street beforehand rather than assume the weekend is free.
Where can you get to at the shortest notice?
Ladywell, because the vans start and finish there, then Deptford and Brockley. New Cross is close by but goes solid from mid August to the end of September, and Greenwich depends entirely on what the town centre is doing that day.
