Greenwich is a different borough, and that is the first practical thing to know. SE10 sits north east of us and the DLR runs straight up through it from Lewisham towards Canary Wharf, so we are there several times a week, but the parking rules and the visitor vouchers belong to the Royal Borough of Greenwich rather than to Lewisham Council. A Lewisham permit does you no good on an SE10 street. Prices are unchanged: a studio is £156 and a two bedroom flat £243 with the single oven inside.
Weekends belong to the visitors
Getting a van near the town centre on a Saturday in July is not a plan. Between the market, the park and everybody heading for the Cutty Sark there is enough traffic to make a mid morning arrival hopeless, so SE10 jobs go in on weekday mornings wherever a customer can take one. If a weekend is the only option we come early. This bites hardest on carpet work, since the machine stays in the van and the hose has to reach, and on an oven where the racks travel out to the tank. Housework is easier, because a cleaner arriving by DLR is not looking for a parking bay at all.
The maritime end and the streets behind it
The World Heritage side of Greenwich, the park and the market and the tall ships, is the bit everybody pictures. Almost all of the actual work is in the roads behind it. A good share of the flats nearest the town centre are let short and cleaned between guests rather than between tenants, which is a different rhythm on the same price list. A same day turnaround has to be booked as a fixed slot rather than a morning window, because we cannot promise a two hour arrival range and an eleven o’clock check-in at the same time. Tell us the exact gap between one set of keys going back and the next going out and the team is sized to fit it.
Old buildings, and what we will not claim
There is a lot of listed and conservation-area property round here, so the working rule is to reach for the gentlest product that will do it and to ask before assuming. Original sashes get the inside of the glass and the sills, and the cords, the beading and the paintwork are left alone. Anything oiled or waxed rather than sealed gets checked before a cloth goes near it, since a standard floor product takes hard wax oil straight off and replacing that finish is expensive. The limit is worth stating flatly: careful domestic cleaning is what this is, and conservation work it is not. Where a surface needs a restorer, we say so and name the trade rather than take money for a clean that was never going to help.
What SE10 books
Move-outs lead, as they do everywhere in this corner of south east London, and the banded figure runs from £156 for a studio to £425 for four bedrooms. Regular weekly housework is the second biggest slice here, proportionally more than in Lewisham itself, at £22 a cleaner hour weekly, £24 on a fortnightly slot. Ovens and carpets fill the rest. The £67 floor on one off work only ever bites on a single small item booked alone, so a lone bedroom carpet at £36 or a hob at £23 is worth pairing with something else in the same visit.
Blackheath is the far side of the park from here and Deptford sits along the river, so SE10 usually gets done in the same week as both. Nothing on the outside of a building, and nothing needing proper access equipment. The prices page prints all of it, and 020 8077 4931 rings through to a person between 8am and 8pm every day.
Questions we get asked
Do you charge more to come to Greenwich?
No. The same list as SE13, with no travel fee for crossing into SE10 and no call out charge. A two bedroom move-out clean is £243 in both.
Is Greenwich in the London Borough of Lewisham?
No, SE10 is in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, which is why the parking rules are different. A Lewisham visitor permit is no use on a Greenwich street, so if your road is controlled and you have a voucher spare, mention it when you book.
When is the best time to book a clean in Greenwich?
Weekday mornings. The park and the market slow the town centre right down from mid morning at weekends, especially in summer, and a van needs to be near your door for carpets and ovens.
Can you clean a listed or conservation-area property?
As careful domestic cleaning, yes: gentlest product that will do it, finishes checked before anybody starts. Conservation work it is not, and a surface wanting a restorer gets named as such.
Can you turn a short let round between guests?
Yes, and it is a regular booking here. Give us the exact window between handovers so the team is sized to fit it, because a same day turnaround has to be a fixed slot rather than a two hour arrival window.
